Hey Spartans - we've moved up to the Mountain West - and the team needs your support more than ever

Our new coach will tell you this - that recruiting is the lifeblood of college football.  The San Jose State Quarterback Club has been an important key to our recent recruiting success.

Previously our coaches could only be opn the road a few days a year, stayed in grungy motels, and didn't always turn in the receipts because there weren't enough funds to repay them.  Your support of the Quarterback Club changed all of that and enabled them to be on the road constantly and we have ended up recruiting great players who are equally great young men.

Between football seasons is the time to donate to the club.  Coach Caragher will need to continue to hit the trail.  More than ever we need to show our support and raise the $50,000 needed to support recruting.  To support your team by donating Click Here.

Memories of Annapolis

It had rained earlier in the week, but by the time Saturday September 29th rolled around it was a sunny and warm early autumn day in Annapolis.  The Naval Academy, which is located about a mile away from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, was buzzing with visitors.  Some of them were checking out the school grounds before the game, but many were there to visit a "middie", or just to take in the sights of the Academy.  The adjacent and historic town of Annapolis also doubles as the capital of Maryland.

At the stadium the SJS Alumni Association had set up a large tent.  Many of the San Jose area alums who travel to games were there.   But this game, being located in the eastern time zone, also attracted fans from many eastern and southern states for a rare opportunity to see their Spartans live.   I estimate that approximately 500 "loud and proud"  SJSU fans were in attendance.   Periodically the S-J-S-U and "San....Jose" chants could be heard.  The final 12-0 score made the hometown fans happy as the Spartans held Navy to the fewest yards in the last 10 years; a span of more than 120 games.
