Fundraising: Mission Accomplished!
On February 1, 2012 the SJSU Quarterback Club proudly presented Head Football Coach Mike McIntyre, SJSU President Mo Qayoumi, and Athletic Director Tom Bowen, a check for $50,000. Club president Rick McCliman wishes to say a big "THANK YOU" to all who participated in helping us reach this record amount.
2010 was the first year that your Quarterback Club committed to raise a specific amount. We reached our goal and gave Coach Mac a check for $25,000 to support May recruiting. This year the club has took on the more ambitious goal of raising $50,000. Monies are raised through a combination of activities:
memberships, income from dinner meetings, raffles, and donations are the main sources.
Coach Mac requested that we raise the $50K this year to fund three very important items: May recruiting expenses , recruiting video services, and a new "chute" for training linemen.
See the pictures of the chute that you helped purchase below. It measures approximately 40' long, and is about 7' wide. The cover is set at about 4 1/2' high. Our old chute was a lot smaller: it could only fit a few players at a time. Our new chute allows a full complement of both offensive and defensive lines to practice against each other.
This helps train the linemen to keep themselves low in their stance. The way the coaches put it: "low man wins" the battle at the line of scrimmage.
Again, thanks to all who participated. You will have a direct impact on the success of the program.

Spring "Feed the Players"
On Wednesday April 18th fans of Spartan Football will have a chance to get to know some of our fine young athletes. This semi-annual event gives families the opportunity to have a small group (4-5) of players over to their house for dinner. After each dinners both the host families, and the players, consistently report that this has been one of the highlights of their SJSU experience. Don't miss out on this special opportunity.
Here are some of the details:
Those who wish to participate should contact Joe Griego at JGSJSU@AOL.COM If you cannot host due to distance but would be available to co-host with someone else, contact Joe. If you cannot host or help host the players' dinner, you are encouraged to donate. Again, contact Joe.
